Whites Linked With Ram Raid

Rams boss Phil Brown is refusing to reveal the identity of the player being chased by Leeds but Smith has emerged as the most likely target.

Derby could face a struggle to keep him when the transfer window reopens in January.

The 25-year-old has been linked with the Whites before. They showed an interest when he left Sunderland for Derby in June 2004.

"Players doing well will command interest from clubs and not just in the Championship, but also the Premiership," said Brown. "Tommy is playing well enough to attract interest."

Brown yesterday dismissed speculation linking Derby with Leeds' defender or midfielder Sean Gregan.

However, Brown did admit that Leeds had inquired about one of the Rams players and he in turn was interested in two Leeds players.

"I'm not about to do my business in public," added Brown.

"Everybody will form their own conclusions over who Leeds are looking at but it is my job to keep that in-house."
