As Speed prepared to face West Ham, he said: "It is very sad and very disappointing what has happened to Leeds. I moved to Elland Road when I was 15 and spent 10 or 11 years with the club. I did a lot of growing up there.
"It breaks your heart a bit to see where they are now. I hope they can rebuild and Dennis Wise can get them out of trouble. But it is going to take a long time and a lot of hard work for Leeds to get back to where they belong."
