Richmond, 39, decided to resign on Monday after being targeted by an Elland Road hate mob.
It was exclusively revealed in The Sun that he resigned after finding the gates on his driveway padlocked and a threatening message which read 'Get out of Leeds, now'.
Richmond, who has three young children, said: "What happened at the weekend served only to reaffirm my belief that the decision to go was the correct one."
