Player Ratings v Shelbourne

Last updated : 16 July 2009 By Irish_LUFC22

1st Half: Ankergren, Hughes, Lees, Michalik, Sheehan, Robinson, Howson, Delph (c), Showunmi (White), Beckford, Grella

2nd Half: Ankergren, Hughes (Darville), Crowe, Huntington, Parker, Snodgrass, Prutton, Johnson, White, Grella (Elliot), Becchio

Ankergren: Nothing to do really in first half, in second half maybe could have done better with second goal, and made a good save from a free kick. 7/10

Hughes: Played over about an hour or so, was solid as always and had a great cross for Beckford when he hit the bar. 7/10

Lees: Was never troubled really, would need to see him again to judge him. 5/10

Michalik: Played well and nothing got by him, defence looked more assured in first half. 7/10

Sheehan: Gave good width to Leeds in first half, still has a good left peg and joined in well with play, we need to get him fit for next season. 7/10

Robinson: Most of our attacks came down the right, when he was on field, played well and had a few mazy runs while having a good shot saved. 8/10

Howson: Controlled game in midfield in first half, few nice passes and a good shot from distance, ran the game. 8/10

Delph: You can see why he is wanted by top clubs, some great vision with some excellent crossfield passes, good running and high energy levels as ever, doesn't look match fit yet. 7/10

Showunmi: Played in an unfamiliar left wing role, won a lot of headers as expected and tried hard, but pulled up with hamstring after half hour. Looked a bit lost out there. 5/10

White: Played left wing instead of left back. Excellent and immediate impact, set up second goal and constant threat for whole match. Excellent performance. 9/10

Beckford: Usual Jermaine in this game; didn't try very hard, and scored and could have had more. Still a constant threat and was the only person who looked like he would for us. Hit the bar and had a few chances on top of his two well taken goals. 8/10

Grella: Worked hard and looked good up front with Beckford, very busy player and got involved always, but never looked like scoring, a work horse up front for me. 7/10

Darville: On his debut he had a few nice touches, but doesn't look like he will be a regular at right back next year. Looked nervous. 5/10

Crowe: I hope he is better at right back than centre half, didn't attack the ball when in the box for second goal. Needs to improve if playing at right full back. 5/10

Huntington: Hasn't played proper football in along time and it showed, off the pace and didn't form a good partnership with Crowe, will give him the benefit of the doubt due to lack of games, as he is better than this. 5/10

Parker: Both Shels goals came from left side, back to his inconsistent ways it seems. Sheehan performed better at left back and got more involved. 5/10

Snodgrass: Probably best player second half which wasn't hard. Came to life last 15mins and had a go of getting the winner. 7/10

Prutton: Was poor, few good touches and got involved but there was no midfield when Shels had the ball, no protection. 5/10

Johnson: Same as Prutton really, except had a few shots at goal and put his foot in more. 6/10

Elliot: In my opinion won't make it up front for us, took the ball of Becchio in dying moments when Argentine looked certain to score. Worked hard, that was about it. 5/10

Becchio: Won a lot of headers and was a handful but didn't look like the Becchio from last year, everything came through him second half. 6/10
