Writer-producer Chris Cook explained to Leedsunited.com:
"We have come up with a unique way for fans to become involved which is for them to fund a line of the script for £50 or a page of the movie for £500, and in return as well as playing a part in the penalty king they would receive a certificate with their piece of the script on it and go along to the premiere of the Penalty King.
"Also, depending on how well the movie goes, we intend to pay people back up to double the money they've put in. It's a fun way to be involved but financially we would acknowledge what they have done and want them to be part of the success of the movie.
"With the cast we have got, we have no fears that we can do a 'Bend It Like Beckham' or a 'Full Monty'."
