Strachan told the Daily Echo that he has no immediate plans to return to the game, despite speculation linking him with Leeds and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Scot also said there are no plans for a final goodbye to Southampton and the St Mary's crowd, stating: "It would be too emotional for me and I'm not sure it would be right."
