The gulf in class between the clubs was glaring as Chester's defence were picked off repeatedly during a one-sided first half.

"I said at half-time that the easy thing for us to do was to try and embarrass the opposition, and disrespect them," said McAllister. "That's what I didn't want.

"The only way we could show respect was to try and score more goals rather than sit back.

"All credit to Chester because they could easily have thrown the towel in. It's not the best start for Simon and I definitely feel for him, but they won the second half 1-0 and that's got to be the positive he's emphasising."
