Hamburg born Nmecha signs on a free transfer from the Bundesliga where he has played for the past four years.
The 26-year-old started his career with Manchester City and made his Premier League debut under Pep Guardiola in 2018 against West Ham United.
He made various loan spells at Preston North End, Wolfsburg, Middlesbrough and Anderlecht before making a permanent move to the Bundesliga in 2021.
In that same year he made his debut for the German national side in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein, winning the most recent of his seven caps in 2022.
The move to sign Nmecha has come completely out of the blue. Graham Smyth of the YEP reported that a deal for the striker was imminent today, but his news was the first Leeds' fans had heard of the signing.
