Johnson: Top Half Target Now

Johnson told leedsunited.com: "The manager has brought in some great players during the transfer window. When you look at the squad now it's actually quite big again, it means everyone has to be on their toes and working hard for their place, which is how it should be. You want people competing against each other for the good of the team.

"The three games prior to Middlesbrough we were playing well, Tottenham we got the run around a bit but we defended well and they didn't have that many clear cut chances, first half against Southampton we played really well and deserved the win so we haven't had the luck until Saturday. Maybe that's just the good fortune we deserved. If we continue working like this then I'm sure we'll pick up more wins.

"It's nice to have the two week break having won. If we had been beaten at Middlesbrough everyone would have been on a downer. People would have started asking questions again if we didn't win, but now they think maybe we can do something this season, the lads certainly think so.

"At the start of the season we were being tipped by the so called experts to be relegated, I don't think that's going to happen now. I think our aim has got to be the top half of the table at the very least, especially with the squad we have now."
