Da Costa Finalises Transfer

Da Costa has waited for a month to complete his switch to United after accepting a one-year contract on the final day of the summer transfer window.

But FIFA contacted the Football Association yesterday to confirm that the 23-year-old has finally been granted international clearance, placing him in contention for his league debut against Yeovil Town.

Da Costa's transfer was put in doubt after Greek club Ionikos, who the Portuguese winger left to join the Whites in August, claimed he was still tied to a contract with them.

Da Costa's international clearance is provisional, and it is understood that the contractual disagreement between the player and Ionikos is still to be officially settled.
