Peter Reid, with an extensive scouting network in France, was aware of Chapuis from an early stage, and felt he would be a useful addition to the squad.
The player himself is just glad to be given a chance in the Premiership.
"I absolutely wanted to go to England, it was my first choice," he said.
"Several Premier League clubs contacted me: Portsmouth, Southampton, Everton, Bolton, and Tottenham, but I chose Leeds.
"I am delighted, in England everything is simpler than in France.
"There is a wonderful atmosphere in the stadiums here."
