Cuellar, who will be 22 later this month, is currently training with Leeds with a view to a permanent move.

'This is the result of conversations we have been maintaining for a while and the club has decided he should travel to England to spend a few days with Leeds,' said Numancia director of sport Maximo Hernandez in Spanish sports daily Marca.

Cuellar joined Numancia from Madrid outfit San Federico four seasons ago. He spent a season on loan at Calahorra before returning to Numancia where he made 39 appearances as his side finished in mid-table last season.

Hernandez is hopeful that Leeds will sign the player. 'This shows that people throughout Europe keep an eye on Numancia,' he said. "Cuellar's transfer could be one of the most important deals in the history of the club and would be very important for the future of the team."
