Bravo Looks Back Positively

The Spanish full-back moved to Elland Road in January from Real Madrid, just as Jonathan Woodgate was controversially sold to Newcastle.

However, when then manager Terry Venables was shown the door, he did not feature in new manager Peter Reid's plans.

But Bravo insisted he enjoyed his time in West Yorkshire. "I think my time at Leeds was very positive," he said.

"I arrived on a Thursday and the coach asked if I was willing to play on the Saturday. I didn't doubt for a moment.

"I played eight consecutive games but then the club changed coach and the new one didn't rely on me."

Bravo has been a regular for Real this season but only because he told his boss a little white lie.

Bravo told Marca: "The boss asked me if I could play in the middle and I had to tell a lie.

"But football is full of circumstances and when a chance appears you can't let it just go by.

"I didn't expect to play as much as I have, but I think I have done well wherever I have been asked to play."
