Blackwell praised the United board of directors for finding him some money for transfers after finally capturing long-term target Sean Gregan.
Blackwell told BBC Radio Leeds: "The board said they would back me and it shows to people that they have a burning ambition to do well.
"Hopefully we'll move forward and there will be money to spend. Once I've seen who I want I'm sure the board will do their best to make it happen."
