Bakke Blow To Cost Norway

The Norwegian international has just returned to Yorkshire following a successful knee operation in America.

Leeds are unhappy because Bakke played three times for his country over the summer, against the advice of club doctors, who had been treating his knee towards the end of last season.

Bakke, 25, began suffering tendonitis midway through last season and Leeds attempted to improve the condition using revolutionary shockwave therapy.

"It is frustrating when I can't go out there and help the lads but I hope that I can help them mentally and keep their spirits lifted while I'm on the treatment table," said Bakke to the Yorkshire Post.

"With all the changes and financial problems, it looks like being another tough season but we still have so many quality players at Leeds and I think that if we can continue to work hard in the way we have been doing so far we will be able to get results.

"I'll be cheering them on from the sidelines and hope to be back on the pitch for club and country as soon as possible."
