Leeds fielded a strong side that boasted several first team players but it was the visitors who dominated the early exchanges of the totesport.com League East Division clash.

United keeper David Lucas produced crucial saves to deny City striker Rory Boulding on three separate occasions within the opening 26 minutes.

Leeds' chances were limited throughout the first half but the hosts improved markedly after the break.

United pressure almost told on 75 minutes when desperate defending blocked efforts from Ovington, Mansour Assoumani and Jonny Howson in a frantic goalmouth scramble.

The home side continued to push forward but they had to wait until the 87th minute when Ovington latched onto a long ball, beat a defender and tucked the ball past City keeper Jon McLaughlin.
