The left-back's 65th-minute goal equalised Mark Byrne's early opener for Forest and earned a strong Leeds line-up a point from the Pontin's Holiday League Division One Central fixture.

Crainey hit home a free-kick after Seb Carole had been fouled on the edge of the area and the draw rewarded a strong second-half performance from the Whites.

Tresor Kandol had two chances saved and he drove another shot narrowly wide of the post as Leeds went for the winner and Gylfi Einarsson missed a great chance four minutes from time when his shot went straight into the arms of Forest keeper Shane Redmond.

Forest had taken the lead in the third minute when Byrne smacked a shot past keeper Frank Fielding, who Leeds acquired on a short-term deal from Blackburn Rovers.

Forest had chances to extend their lead before half-time but 19-year-old Fielding's save denied Robert Hughes and Emile Sinclair headed Alan Power's cross over the bar with half-time approaching.

United took the opportunity to give several of their senior players a run-out and skipper Gary Kelly completed another 90 minutes.

Leeds: Fielding, Kelly, Crainey, Hotchkiss (Gardner 62), Madden, Wilkinson, Carole, Einarsson, Kandol, Rothery (Cartman 79), Rose.
Subs Unused: Fisher, Grace, Delph.
