John Carver, David Geddis and Glyn Williams were all watching the match in the directors box.

Leeds included 15-year old schoolboy Ben Gordon on the left of midfield
and 16-year old Ross Wilkinson at centre-half.

After a day of heavy rain, the Oakwell pitch was slippy to say the least
and it was a game that really proved that Leeds should do something about the boot situation, namely the bladed boots which several players were
wearing.

3 mins Lund slips in his bladed boots trying to clear a backpass and
presents Barnsley with a gift of a goal 0-1
10 Well timed run by Barnsley to beat the offside and slot past the
advancing Lund in the Leeds goal 0-2
12 Lund does well to tip the ball over the bar from a curling free kick
13 From the resulting corner Barnsley go 0-3 up when the ball drops
unchallenged in the 6-yard box
15 Leeds corner well flighted across the box from Gordon, cleared and
Barnsley brake quickly forcing Lund to come to the edge of his box to
spread himself and save
19 Cresswell and Lukic Jnr both challenge for a cross, but the ball hits
the striker and goes in 1-3
24 Another Cresswell header brings the score back to 2-3
26 Ross Wilkinson did well to get back to make a tackle, but ended up
being turned and a shot past Lund makes it 2-4
28 Cresswell shot, fingertip save from Lukic
31 Hutton wins the ball in midfield and his neat pass lets in Cresswell but his shot is too near Lukic
41 Ian Moore scores to make it 3-4
42 Carole shot inches over

h/t 3-4

46
Bailey Camfield replaces Frazer Richardson
52 Tomi Ameobi replaces Moore, who appears to pull up after tweaking
a muscle
57 Cresswell hangs in the air and heads across Lukic to pull the score
back to 4-4
69 David Brown replaces the tiring Gordon
70 Brown hits the bar
80 Lund saves a 20-yard shot
81 Leeds step up the pressure and Seb Carole squares the ball back for
Ameobi but his goalbound shot takes a slight deflection
85 Lund does well to get a hand to a header, but can't keep the ball
out of the net 4-5
86 Virtually from the kick off Leeds lose the ball and a lofted ball over
the defence catches Leeds out despite Lund's efforts to come out to narrow
the angle 4-6

Barnsley adapt to the conditions better, the only plus points were
Cresswell getting 90 mins and Gordon showing he could handle reserve team football.
