The home side looked good for 3 points after Michael Duberry conceded an 85th-minute penalty and was also sent off by referee Graham Laws, who adjudged the defender to have brought down Miller in the penalty area.

Duberry - a summer transfer target for Wolves - was immediately given his marching orders for the clumsy challenge.

Miller, who made no mistake with his penalty against Stoke a weak ago, fired in a low, hard shot, only for goalkeeper Neil Sullivan to dive and push the ball away.

The miss cost Miller the opportunity to make it three goals in three games and left Wolves with just two points in the bank from the first three games of the campaign.

Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell made changes to his line up after their disappointing midweek defeat at Gillingham, but once again The Whites failed to click into gear when a better display might have gained maximum reward.

With just one win to their credit so far, Leeds created little to trouble the home defence, with Danny Pugh firing in their only on-target effort of the opening 45 minutes - a 20-yarder that was held comfortably by Paul Jones.

Wolves started well, with Miller testing Sullivan from 25-yards only to see his curling shot tipped around the post.

Then with seven minutes gone, Shaun Newton twisted away from debutant left-back Stephen Crainey and crossed - but Leon Clarke headed over the crossbar and moments later he had a good shot well saved by Sullivan.

It was always Wolves who were in control, with teenage striker Clarke keeping the Leeds defence on their toes.

Leeds lost Lucas Radebe to injury in the 18th minute when the South African, who had been operating in midfield, was worriedly carried off and replaced by Simon Walton.

After the break, Seyi Olofinjana burst from midfield and found Newton who centred for Clarke to head just wide. Sullivan had to react sharply to keep out another low shot from Clarke, while Miller fired in an effort that flew just inches over the crossbar.

With 10 minutes left, Colin Cameron scuffed a drive into Sullivan's arms before an injury to Lee Naylor forced a change in the Wolves defence with Keith Andrews replacing him.

Frazer Richardson, Michael Ricketts and Simon Walton all got shots in for Leeds, but they all flew high or wide of the Wolves goal.
