Leeds United 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers 3 (Saiss 29, Boly 45, Afobe 74)

Leeds United suffered back to back defeats, as table toppers Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded a three goal victory.

Head coach Paul Heckingbottom made three changes from the side beaten at Middlesbrough on Friday, with goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell named in goal.

Leeds nearly made the perfect start when Pontus Jansson met a Stuart Dallas free kick, but his header was clawed away by Wolves goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Leo Bonatani had the first sight of goal for the visitors but his shot deflected wide for a corner.

Peacock-Farrell was called into action by saving Ivan Cavaleiro’s shot away for a corner which Leeds cleared.

Diogo Jota should really have given Wolves the lead, but his miss-kick in front of goal following a cross from Matt Doherty.

Bonatani had another chance for the visitors but the effort came off his thigh and failed to trouble Peacock-Farrell.

It was Peacock-Farrell to the rescue again, when he made himself big, to deny Jota from close range.

Wolves took the lead when Romain Saiss had a free header in the box and he found the net in from a Barry Douglas corner on 29 minutes.

Peacock-Farrell then pulled off a magnificent save to deny Bonatini after he was played through on goal by Alfred N'Diaye.

Wolves did double their lead just before the break from another corner, Danny Batth’s header hit the bar and Willly Boly was on the spot to head home the rebound.

Wolves came close to extending their advantage further after another Doherty corner, but Bonatini saw his header cleared off the line.

At the other end Gaetano Berardi was inches away from scoring his first ever goal at Elland Road but his long range effort went just inches off target.

Dallas had a chance to half the deficit, but he couldn’t scramble home at the far post following a cross from half time substitute Pablo Hernandez.

Diogo Jota then rattled the Leeds crossbar as Wolves went in search of a third, after finding space just inside the Leeds area.

Wolves substitute Benik Afobe did make it three when he latched onto a long ball and beat the out-coming Peacock-Farrell with a lobbed effort.

Caleb Ekuban then saw his header easily saved by Ruddy, as the visitors extended their advantage at the top of the league.
