Mallik Wilks has joined Accrington Stanley on loan until January after agreeing a 12-month contract extension with Leeds United.

The striker will get his first taste of league football with the Lancashire club having renewed his deal at Elland Road to end of the 2018-19 season.

Wilks,18, is part of United’s development squad and has been knocking on the door of their first team for the past year.

He made his senior debut for the club as a substitute in an FA Cup defeat at non-league Sutton United in January, appearing just days after the death of his brother, and was named on the bench for Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup win over Newport County.

Accrington are managed by John Coleman and are currently 6th in League Two taking 6 points from their first three league games.
