Rob Green His fingertips kept out Connolly’s header and in between a few shaky moments, he needed the woodwork to help him. 6/10

Luke Ayling Dealt much better with the pace that Cardiff possessed and also offered more of an outlet going forward than Charlie Taylor on the left. 7/10

Kyle Bartley Sadly for him, all eyes are going to fall on the imperious Jansson. But Bartley played well and led the team in Liam Bridcutt’s absence. 7/10

Pontus Jansson Rapidly becoming a favourite of the crowd. Reads crosses into the box so well and cleared so much of what Cardiff threw at United. 9/10

Charlie Taylor Very withdrawn in the first half and didn’t really get beyond halfway. Better in the second without being at his best. 6/10

Eunan O’Kane Looks slightly rusty but knows how to control a game and was able to dictate the pace once Leeds got themselves ahead. 7/10

Ronaldo Vieira Much better than his last outing at Forest - more dominant, more disciplined and gradually outworked Cardiff’s mediocre midfield. 7/10

Hadi Sacko Not everything he tried came off but he refused to back away and City grew tired of him. 7/10

Pablo Hernandez His best game so far; busy and aggressive in an attacking sense. His finish was that of a quality footballer. 8/10

Stuart Dallas The left hand side of Monk’s team wasn’t as effective as the right but Dallas worked hard enough to justify his inclusion. 6/10

Chris Wood Might have scored in the first half, did score in the second and little by little his goals are creeping up. So should his confidence. 7/10

Subs: Kemar Roofe (for Dallas, 71) - Helped to take the game to Cardiff at 1-0 and ensured that Leeds weren’t tempted to sit back. 6/10

Kalvin Phillips (for Hernandez, 89) - The easiest of appearances, with City already beaten. 5/10

Marcus Antonsson (for Wood, 90) - Came on with literally seconds to go. 5/10

Subs (not used): Marco Silvestri, Liam Cooper, Alex Mowatt, Lewie Coyle.

Referee: Graham Scott (Oxfordshire) - In Leeds’ eyes, the penalty almost redeemed his display but he had a very iffy afternoon. 4/10

Attendance: 16,608

Cardiff City: Ben Amos - 6 Lee Peltier - 5 Sean Morrison - 5 Matthew Connolly - 5 Jazz Richards - 6 Aron Gunnarsson - 6 Anthony Pilkington - 4 Peter Whittingham - 5 Joe Ralls - 5 Craig Noone - 5 Rickie Lambert - 5

Subs:Kadeem Harris (for Ralls, 70) - 5 Frederic Gounongbe (for Connolly, 84) - 5 Lex Immers (for Pilkington, 89) - 5
