YEP Player Ratings

Last updated : 14 April 2016 By Phil Hay

Marco Silvestri: Conceded the first effort of the game but the blame was not his and his afternoon was pretty quiet, despite the presence of Andre Gray. 6/10

Gaetano Berardi: Hasn’t looked himself in the past few games and was slightly shaky. Arfield caught him napping in the early moments and took advantage. 5/10

Sol Bamba: No doubt that he erred by rushing out and failing to beat Vokes to a header in the build-up to Burnley goal but was genuinely excellent after that. 7/10

Liam Cooper: One of United’s best players, if not the best. Won so many headers and challenges and hardly put a foot wrong. 8/10

Charlie Taylor: An improved display, which he needed after a couple of ordinary weeks, and he caused trouble on the left. His corners could be better though. 7/10

Toumani Diagouraga: The centre of United’s midfield didn’t really click in the first half but he stood up strongly to Joey Barton et al. 6/10

Lewis Cook: A livewire in the middle of the field as Leeds put the pressure on in the second half. Evans’ side could hardly have laid on better chances for Wood. 7/10

Luke Murphy: The sort of match that suits him, with United in the ascendancy and plenty of possession coming to him. Just wasn’t able to take the contest by the scruff of the neck. 7/10

Stuart Dallas: One of the players who kept Burnley on the back foot before half-time and was full of running. But more threat came from elsewhere. 6/10

Mustapha Carayol: Blew hot and cold. Some poor touches, some poor decisions, but laid on an absolute sitter for Wood. The striker had to score. 5/10

Chris Wood: His first opportunity was a sitter by the standards of a top Championship striker. The second should at least have gone on target. No doubt held his hands up afterwards. 4/10

Substitutes:

Mirco Antenucci (for Carayol, 66) - The right decision to bring him on as the game became stretched but chances never fell to him. 5/10

Tom Adeyemi (for Diagouraga, 82) - A like-for-like swap but a rare appearance for a midfielder who hasn’t made much impact and didn’t on Saturday. 5/10

Alex Mowatt (for Dallas, 87) - A late chance to shine but didn’t find a way into the match. 5/10

Subs (not used): Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Lewie Coyle, Giuseppe Bellusci, Kalvin Phillips.

Referee: Lee Mason (Lancashire) - Pretty good with the big calls. The home crowd weren’t happy with his reading of the more routine decisions. 6/10

Attendance: 18,229

Burnley: Tom Heaton – 6, Matthew Lowton – 6, Ben Mee – 7, Michael Keane – 8, Stephen Ward – 6, George Boyd – 5, David Jones – 6, Joey Barton – 6, Scott Arfield – 7, Sam Vokes – 6, Andre Gray - 5

Substitutes: Ashley Barnes (for Vokes, 71) – 4, Dean Marney (for Jones, 76) – 5, Matthew Taylor (for Gray, 90) - 5
