Wood To Feature Today Against Notts County

Chris Wood is expected to play in the behind-closed-doors friendly as the club monitor his fitness for the start of the Championship season on Aug 8th.

Leeds pulled Wood out of previous games against Eintracht Frankfurt and York City due to a minor hamstring problem, leading head coach Uwe Rosler to admit that the 23-year-old would not be “100 per cent” ready for the first game of the Championship term at home to Burnley.

But the forward’s 80-minute outing against Hoffenheim put him firmly in contention, with Rosler describing it as the “perfect test”, and an appearance against the Magpies will sharpen him up for the beginning of the term.

“We’ve got an internal game (today) where we’ll get another 90 minutes into certain players,” Rosler said.

Wood is United’s biggest signing of the summer to date having joined from Leicester City for a fee which could rise to £3m.

Despite his fitness concerns, Rosler was confident that Wood would be available for the opening day of the season, saying: “He’ll maybe not be 100 per cent but he’ll be in a position where he is match fit.”
