19-year-old Cywka, born in Poland, was seen playing for Gornik Zwareb by Wigan's football co-ordinator Bill Green, who recommended him to former boss Paul Jewell in March 2006.

He was signed on a three-year deal at the start of the 2006/07 season when he was just 17.

Cywka is a regular in the Poland youth team and has been touted as one of Poland's finest young football talents.

He made his Latics debut in September 2006 in a Carling Cup, 2nd round game against Crewe Alexandra and was loaned to Oldham Athletic to gain regular first team football in October 2006.

After playing just one full game for Oldham, appearing as a sub on four occasions, he was recalled by Wigan in December 2006 due to an injury crisis and has still to make his Latics Premiership debut.
