Although the Southampton midfielder, who resigned as Millwall's player-manager at the end of last season, has a close association with the Leeds chairman Ken Bates, he said: "The manager in me is buried at the moment, I'm at Southampton to play football. That's what I want to do for the year. I didn't play myself too much at Millwall. When you are manager, it is very difficult to do both things."
