The multi-millionaire stated that such reports are misleading and that he has had no contact whatsoever with Ken Bates.
"I have no idea where the rumours are coming from," Wilkinson told skysports.com. "I have never met or corresponded or had a conversation with Mr Bates.
"If I was interested in buying the club I would, out of courtesy, contact Mr Bates to have a preliminary discussion.
"I have no plans to contact him now or in the foreseeable future."
