Why Leeds' move for Arnaud Kalimuendo has stalled

Leeds United are being made to wait by Paris Saint-Germain for striker Arnaud Kalimuendo as new manager Christophe Galtier has been impressed by him in pre-season, 90min understands.

PSG's football advisor Luis Campos held talks with Leeds earlier this month and a deal for just over £20m was close to being finalised.

However, the deal has since stalled for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Kalimuendo has been performing well in pre-season and new PSG boss Galtier has been impressed with the 20-year-old. Galtier has now informed Campos he wants to take a closer look at Kalimuendo before deciding his future.

Another factor against Leeds is that a number of other English clubs have been alerted to his potential availability in the last week.

Sources have told 90min that a number of their Premier League rivals, including Newcastle, Everton, Crystal Palace and Brighton, have all been contacted in regards to Kalimuendo, while Ligue 1 outfits Nice and Rennes are also very keen following his impressive loan spells at Lens in the last two seasons.

However, Leeds have not backed off and they remain hopeful that they can secure his signature before the start of the Premier League season.
