The Northern Ireland international was sent off midway through the second half of the 1-0 win at Loftus Road for 'violent conduct', following a clash with QPR's Marc Bircham.
The appeal will be heard by a Football Association disciplinary committee tomorrow, with Leeds hoping he can then play against Rotherham in the Carling Cup tomorrow night.
If the appeal fails, he will miss three games, including Rotherham and the Championship clashes against Ipswich Town and Derby County.
