Kevin Blackwell confirmed his interest in the Viking Stavanger defender with Leeds having him watched on a number of occasions, but the player's club have opened talks with Danish outfit FC Copenhagen about a possible move.

Viking's administration chief Egil Ostenstadt, the former Blackburn and Southampton striker, says that Viking will listen to any offers for the player before the January transfer window closes.

Hangeland, who is currently playing in midfield, is also understood to be attracting interest from an un-named Russian club.
