With Manchester United coming #1 over the football leagues. Glory supporters or home town loyalists?
Plusnet have produced a definitive map of where each clubs’ fans come from across the UK, and how many of the fans come from the clubs’ local area.
Using data of keyword volumes from Google Keyword Planner, Plusnet have compared the percentage of searches for each team in the city or town which they are situated and compared to the number of searches for other teams in the league.
With some surprising results!
Newcastle’s Toon Army, touted by many for the top spot, came in as the 3rd most loyal with 42.4
Rotherham United took the number four spot, the highest placed club outside of the Premier League
Premier League champions Leicester City snuck into the top 10 with a third of the cities searches being for their home team
