Walton On His Way From Leeds

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that the London club are in discussions with the 18-year-old's representatives today after agreeing a fee with United and his departure is expected before the end of the week.

Leeds should receive upwards of £500k for a player who emerged through the youth academy to make his first-team debut in 2004 and his contract would almost certainly include performance-related payment clauses.

Walton made his senior appearance as a 16-year-old and he made 33 outings during the 2004-05 season.

But he was mostly overlooked last season featuring in only five matches, including a league game at Wolves in December which ended in his dismissal for two bookable offences.

Kevin Blackwell said: "They're a Premiership club and it's potentially a great opportunity for him. We wouldn't stand in his way."
