Despite suggestions that on loan striker Julian Joachim is going to sign for the Saddlers, Club Call report that Leeds will release the former Walsall, Bolton and Middlesbrough striker Ricketts and that Paul Merson is interested in bringing the one time England International back to Bescot.
Ricketts is currently on loan at Stoke City and has been a massive disappointment at Elland Road.
However, Joachim has notched five goals since joining the Saddlers last month, including a hat-trick against newly promoted Hull City, and the Midlands club were expected to make a formal approach for him.
