According to The Independent, the Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, is ready to make an official £5m offer for the Aussie when the transfer window opens in January.

The striker fell out with former boss Peter Reid, but came back into the starting line-up under Eddie Gray and helped United win 1-0 at Charlton last weekend to revive hopes of an escape from relegation.
