What effectively may have cost Reid his job was over the time Viduka was taking to get ready for training last Friday.
The Independent states that he striker had a spat with Reid because he was not ready for their brief session before the squad left for Portsmouth.
Reid was going out with the players at 10.30am when he found Viduka tying up his strappings, behind the rest of the group.
He asked the striker to "hurry up and come out" and was met with a short, four-letter response.
Reid returned the 'compliment' and went into a fury, telling him he would not be travelling with the team to Fratton Park.
Such a decision may have, in the end, cost Reid his job.
