Venables staying - for now!

Speaking at the Elland Road press conference with Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale, Venables admitted his disappointment over the sale of Jonathan Woodgate to Newcastle and Robbie Fowler to Man City.

"The players that are still here are the most important ones, and the supporters, and the more I think about it I feel it would be irresponsible to do anything other than stay, said Venables.

"Coming in today, you are full of mixed emotions, but the more I think about it, my mind is beginning to get made up.

"I haven't said I am going to stay. I have not spoken to anyone since yesterday afternoon but I don't want to make a knee-jerk reaction.

"We have a game tomorrow and that is the most important thing. The players will be ready for it."
