The Cameroon international was a target for the Primera Liga outfit, but opted for a move to England, preferring the chance of a crack at the Premiership.

Olembe joined United last week on a season-long loan deal and has already impressed the coaching staff.

The 22-year-old, from Marseille, was wanted by a host of clubs but is determined to make his mark at Leeds.

Head coach Kevin Blackwell said today: "Salomon had a couple of options, but he wanted to come here because of the reputation we hold.

"I think that speaks volumes for Leeds United and what we've got to do is maintain that by being hard to beat and progressing in the Premiership."

Roque Junior is the latest arrival in Peter Reid's revolution and he is due back this weekend.

Roque played his part in the 1-0 defeat of Ecuador last night and Reid will assess his fitness on his return.

The Brazilian could come into contention for Monday night's trip to Leicester.
