British Transport Police have a 'league table' based on a points system for the type of offence committed and Leeds are top with 48 points so far this season, 17 points ahead of the next worst, Newcastle.

This includes four violent disorders at stations and nine anti-social behaviour incidents. All together, there have been 10 arrests.

The police are now promising a crackdown, including action which will target problem fans and include special units and drugs dogs. They are also looking at banning orders on certain individuals.

Leeds United Supporters Club chairman Ray Fell said: "I totally regret to hear of these incidents. Fans should be able to travel without causing other passengers any problem at all."
