Un Deux Trois Pour Leeds

After taking Lamine Sakho and Salomon Olembe on a year's loan from the French club, manager Peter Reid went for a hat-trick by signing striker Cyril Chapuis, also on loan for a year.

Reid's excursions into the French market place have already paid off, with winger Sakho and Lens central defender Zoumana Camara each scoring their first goals for the club in Saturday's 3-2 win at Middlesbrough.

United also completed the signing of AC Milan defender Roque Junior after the Brazilian international was granted a work permit by the Department of Employment.

The 27-year-old had already agreed a one-year deal at Elland Road and passed a medical, but his move could not be officially sanctioned without a work permit.

The initial application for the centre-half was turned down by the DoE, as Junior has not played in the required 75% of international matches over the past year.

Peter Reid personally attended the appeal hearing in Sheffield this morning.

Despite having been part of the World Cup winning Brazil team 13 months ago, the problem has arose after the former Palmeiras defender was injured whilst playing in last season's Champions League final for AC Milan.

As a result, he missed all of Brazil's official FIFA 'A' games in the Concacaf Gold Cup over the summer.

Goalkeeper Nigel Martyn completed a £500k move to Everton after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical. He grew tired of understudying Paul Robinson at Elland Road. He will instead be Richard Wright's understudy at Goodison Park!

And Mark Viduka went nowhere, United denying rumours of a late bid from Blackburn Rovers.
