French youngster Joel Sammi, a defender from amateur side Valence, is set to be snapped up on a free after he impressed during his two week trial spell with The Whites.

Sammi played in the pre-season games against Bristol City as a left-back and against York City at centre-half.

Decisions,decisions
The other trialist whose position is less clear cut is midfielder Sebastian Rostoe. The Cannes youngster is still under contract and Reid is keen to see what it would take to release him from that.

Reid sees both players as ones for the future rather than ready made for the first team.

"Sammi is a decent centre-half and I think he could do alright," said Reid. "He's only 18-years old and he looks the part."

But Brazilian midfielder Rodrigo will not be staying. The former Everton player has not done enough to convince Reid to make a deal permanent.

The 25-year-old has been keen to move to Elland Road but knew he was facing a struggle to convince the management that he was worth a contract having recently returned to action from a serious cruciate ligament injury.
