Trial delayed (again)

The defence lawyers appealed at the last moment, claiming a new investigation into the crime scene was needed. Judge Iskender Tepebasi has now postponed the trial until March 7th, when he will rule on their claim.

Chief suspect Ali Umit Demir has been ordered to remain in prison, while the other suspects who have all been freed on bail, have been issued with a final summons after failing to appear at court on several occasions in the past. Demir may face a 30 year spell behind bars.

Loftus and Speight died in Istanbul on the eve of the Leeds - Galatasaray, UEFA Cup Semi Final, almost two years ago.
