Toon Eye Leeds Situation

The Geordies are free to talk to Bridges when the transfer window opens in less than a fortnight's time, as his contract expires in the summer, but the striker's lack of first- team action is causing concern at St James' Park.

Unless a consortium comes in by January 19th to buy out Leeds, they will go into administration, when all Leeds players can be picked up cheaply, including England international Alan Smith. A player Sir Bobby Robson rates very highly.

Bridges has been on the bench for the last three Leeds games as Eddie Gray has led a mini revival at Elland Road.

Newcastle have watched Bridges in action for the reserves, but they would prefer him to have seen some first-team action.
