Martyn, who celebrates his 37th birthday today, has been in talks with Chelsea about a move to Stamford Bridge.

However, the transfer appears to be on the back burner as Chelsea have concentrated on deals for Juan Sebastian Veron, Joe Cole and Adrian Mutu.

In addition, Everton boss Moyes has said he also wants the ex-England international with first choice Richard Wright currently struggling with injury.

'He's certainly a goalkeeper I admire and I think he could do us a job,' Moyes said.

Despite featuring in England's World Cup squad before the start of the 2002/03 Season Martyn has failed to win back his first team place in the Leeds eleven, which talented youngster Paul Robinson made his own after being handed the opportunity by Terry Venables.
