Tim Kerr, QC and Football League directors Greg Clarke and Richard Bowker formed the panel who heard the Leeds United president’s appeal against his disqualification in London last Thursday.

Fluent in French, German and Spanish, Kerr pronounces his surname ‘car’.

He has often sat as an arbiter on international and domestic sports disputes and disciplinary issues.

According to his biography, he is a keen Chelsea fan and has run four marathons.

Clarke was appointed as non-executive chairman of the Football League in March 2010.

During his successful business career, he has led a number of large public companies in the UK and overseas, including Cable and Wireless Communications PLC and Lend Lease Corporation.

Bowker, who joined the league’s board in March 2012, has a proven track record in the transport industry at home and abroad.

He has previously served as group chief executive of National Express, chairman and chief executive of the Strategic Rail Authority, vice chairman of British Waterways as well as group commercial director of Virgin.
