The Six Guilty Men?

PETER RIDSDALE

The chairman who spent all the money and left Leeds with debts of £105m and on the brink of going bust. Ridsdale famously said before quitting his post last year that the gamble he took was worth it to 'live the dream'.

DAVID O’LEARY

The manager who took Leeds into the Champions League and kept them in the top five of the Premiership. But when it all went wrong, he blamed everybody but himself and lost the dressing-room with his book, Leeds United On Trial.

PROFESSOR JOHN McKENZIE

No goldfish in the office of the man who succeeded Ridsdale as chairman. But the nutty professor insisted on freshly-cut flowers every day and a chauffeur-driven car. He also cocked up Harry Kewell’s transfer to Liverpool — a deal which saw the player and his agent pocket twice as much between them as the £2m Leeds received.

LEE BOWYER

The combative midfielder hit the best form of his career while going through his court ordeal along with team-mate Jonathan Woodgate. But, after it all turned sour following a bust-up with Ridsdale over the club’s refusal to pay his legal costs, Bowyer deliberately ran down his contract to make sure United got nothing for him when they eventually flogged him to West Ham.

MARK VIDUKA

The Aussie striker was sent off needlessly against Leicester last month, missing the crucial defeat against Portsmouth as a result. Then he saw red again yesterday. Viduka could be outstanding when he turned it on, but that was not nearly enough for a man on £60,000-a-week.

Has been fighting Leeds for £500,000 he claims he is owed in image rights. But his image is so bad he should owe Leeds money!

TERRY VENABLES

Took over a team that finished fifth with four wins from their last five games and had them in a relegation fight within weeks, long before the player exodus. Brought flops Nicky Barmby and Paul Okon to the club. Refused to quit despite shocking cup exits to Sheffield United and left with a bumper pay-off.

Tell us what you think of Leeds’ relegation on the messageboard. Who do you believe is to blame?
