The Morning After The Disaster Before

"We were second best in every department," said Reid in today's Yorkshire Evening Post. "There were no tackles and the desire to play, work and pass wasn't there.

"Everton had it all. We didn't. We were fortunate to come away with just four. I can't remember us winning a tackle. There were a couple of runs, but there was no determination about our play and you can't have that.

"If you go back to the Leicester game, we didn't compete. This was the same. Teams watching us will be saying we haven't got the stomach for a battle.

"As a manager, to keep criticising your players is no good. I don't want to do that. I think you have to try to be constructive, but I want to be honest. There was nothing constructive about yesterday.

"Teams be watching that and saying 'if we out-battle Leeds, we'll win the game'.

"I'm disappointed because you can't keep hammering people. It's not particularly enjoyable, but unless we start working it will be a hard season.

"In fact, it's not going to be, it is a hard season.

"I can't justify what happened out there to Leeds fans," Reid continued. "If you have a go, people will accept what happens.

"But the supporters won't accept what they saw yesterday. I can't accept it and they won't either.

"If I tried to defend that performance people would think I've gone off my rocker - and I haven't done that yet!

"At this moment in time I can't explain a performance like that. We train, we organise, but we didn't turn up.

"We are that much of a Jekyll and Hyde side at the moment it's frightening."
