Gary Kelly will again skipper the side in his absence as Lucas Radebe is also ruled out with a recurrence of his knee injury.
It means Peter Reid looks set to continue with Zoumana Camara and Roque Junior as his central defenders, despite their faultering start at Leicester.
Reid must also decide whether to play Salomon Olembe from the start or stick with Jody Morris and Seth Johnson. This may be an easier decision as Johnson has not trained since Tuesday with a bout of flu.
Reid has also veteran midfielder David Batty at his disposal.
Batty made his first Premiership appearance for 16 months when he left the bench against Newcastle in the opening match of the season.
He also made a substitute appearance against Southampton but was left on the bench against Spurs, Middlesbrough and Leicester.
However, Reid has been pleased with Batty's efforts in training and during his brief first-team appearances.
