The apology reads: 'On 6 March we stated that Leeds United had been punished by the Football League for 'financial mismanagement'. We accept that this is untrue and no such finding was made. Fifteen points were deducted from the club at the start of the 2007/2008 season due to it going into administration. We apologise to the club and chairman Ken Bates.'
