Players and fans of one of the world's most iconic sports games flocked to Glasgow two weeks for the first ever Subbuteo Challenge Cup.

The success of the Scottish Subbuteo Championships paves the wave for the remaining two Subbuteo Challenge Cup qualifying rounds that will take place at the Chelsea Football Club, London on Saturday August 3 and here at Elland Road on Sunday August 11.

Winners from the Scottish tournament and England qualifiers will then have the opportunity to take part in the Subbuteo Challenge Cup UK Final on Saturday 19 October at the National Football Museum in Manchester.

Mark Watson, Event Manager said, "This kick-off event was an amazing success and we are over the moon with the incredible coverage the Scottish Subbuteo Championships received.

"This is the first public Subbuteo table football tournament for nearly 20 years and the great response from Scottish fans bodes extremely well for the qualifiers which will be taking place next month in London and Leeds. We hope the weekend's tournament will have whet the appetite for fans across the UK who have two more opportunities to take part."

Richard Wells, Sales Director of Paul Lamond Games said, "We are delighted that the inaugural Subbuteo Challenge Cup got off to such a strong start this weekend in Scotland with such phenomenal press coverage. We are confident that the London and Leeds legs of the tournament will be just as successful."

The Subbuteo Challenge Cup offers players aged four to 104 of all skill levels the opportunity to take part and those interested must register online prior to the event at www.subbuteochallengecup.co.uk.

The tournament is free to enter; so register early to avoid disappointment.
