Sodje Snub

The 30-year-old defender, born down the road from the Valley in Greenwich, had been on loan at both Leeds and Charlton prior to his Reading contract expiring in the summer.

But Sodje believes that despite becoming a fan favourite with both sets of supporters, returning to SE7 and working under Phil Parkinson was the right choice for him.

He explained: "I had options to go to Championship clubs but it was about me coming to play and do a good job, and coming back to my local club. I feel like I owe Charlton, I just love this club and I'm happy to be here.

"When I went to Leeds last season I couldn't believe how big a club it was, and I wanted to go to Leeds as well.

"But at the same time, I felt that between the manager and Charlton as a club that this was the right thing for me to do and hopefully at the end of the season it does prove that way."
